We’re a veterinary dermatology practice providing specialized treatment and diagnosis of allergy, skin, and ear problems in pets.

Haarstad Dermatology has two offices located in Osseo/Maple Grove and Duluth, Minnesota. To improve access to specialty care, we also host clinics in select locations. At this time, we regularly see patients in St. Cloud and Fargo, in addition to our primary offices.

DR. AMY HAARSTAD

DVM, DACVD

Dr. Amy Haarstad grew up in Maple Grove, Minnesota. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. After undergrad, she attended veterinary school at North Carolina State University and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2001. The following year, she completed a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Purdue University. Dr. Haarstad then returned to the Twin Cities to work at a small animal practice.

While working as a primary care doctor, Dr. Haarstad grew more interested in allergies and dermatology. Additionally, she enjoyed the opportunity to develop relationships with pets and their owners, providing expertise and support in their ongoing care. As a result, Dr. Haarstad decided to combine these passions and become a veterinary dermatology and allergy specialist.

After nine years in general practice, Dr. Haarstad participated in a three-year veterinary dermatology residency at McKeever Dermatology Clinics. She was board certified by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD) in 2014, and officially started Haarstad Veterinary Dermatology in the fall of 2017.

Outside of her veterinary work, Dr. Haarstad enjoys playing volleyball and spending time with her husband, Steve, and their three daughters. She also loves playing with her own pets, Which include three dogs (Sorry, Benny and Sakari) and two cats (Luna and Oran.) One of Dr. Haarstad’s favorite activities is the annual trip she and her family take to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA).

Heidi

Veterinary Assistant

Heidi's role in the clinic is a vet assistant and she loves to see the improvements the dogs and cats make when they come to see us. Seeing before and after pictures of how they look brings her so much joy and inspiration for dermatology care. Heidi has two cats at home named Thorin and Eowyn and they love to run around and play together! Hobbies that Heidi does outside of work is read fantasy books and play games with her family whether that is a video game or a board game.

Ashley

CVT, Practice manger

Ashley graduated from Argosy University in 2009 with an Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. With over 15 years of experience as a veterinary technician, one of her favorite aspects of the profession has always been client communication and advocating for pets. Over time, Ashley developed a special interest in dermatology, finding particular fulfillment in helping pets feel more comfortable and empowering clients to confidently care for pets with allergies and chronic skin conditions.Ashley joined Haarstad Veterinary Dermatology in April 2021 as a veterinary technician and stepped into the role of Practice Manager in 2025, where she combines her clinical background with leadership and a strong focus on client and patient care.
Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her daughter and fiancé. She loves playing with her three dogs—Shadow, Annabelle, and Jax—and her cat, Poppy. In her free time, Ashley enjoys reading, painting, and spending time outdoors.

Kerri

Client care coordinator

Kerri is often one of the first friendly voices our clients hear when they call. She schedules appointments, answers questions, and helps guide clients through their pet’s care with clarity and compassion. Kerri also reaches out to check in on patients, making sure both pets and their people feel supported every step of the way. She truly enjoys connecting with clients and is a strong advocate for the pets we care for.Outside of work, Kerri loves spending time with her four kids, two grandchildren, her dog Bentley, and her cat Willy.

Kira

CVT

Kira has been a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with Haarstad Veterinary Dermatology since October 2023. Her favorite part of working in this specialty is helping improve a pet’s quality of life — whether that’s reducing chronic itch, identifying the underlying cause, or supporting long-term skin health. Outside of work, Kira enjoys hiking, running, and traveling. She shares a rescued dog named Sully with her husband, Mark.
